Why do we only sell wood shutters and not vinyl shutters?
We've taken a strong position that we will never sell plastic/ vinyl or pvc shutters in our line of products. Regardless of competitors that claim they are full proof of warping, chipping, sagging or yellowing… this has not been our history.
We have carried and sold almost every type of plastic/vinyl shutter on the market with most manufactures offering a limited-lifetime warranty. The warranty is meaningless after a few years! Every one of these shutters ended up with an array of issues and problems. The major problem with plastic/vinyl shutters is their heavy weight which causes sagging and splitting at the structural seams. The stress issues become completely evident and are exacerbated with window heat. Over a small period of time the problems magnify which causes the function of the shutter to loose its integrity.
The only shutters that we have found to be almost 100% foolproof is north American basswood. they are suitable to almost every climate from desert heat to high humidity. Our wood shutters are all kiln dried which eliminates 95% of all warping by pulling the moisture out of the wood before manufacturing. The finished shutter weight is light and structurally sound because of the kiln process. By eliminating all the stress points our wood shutters won’t sag and split at the seams.
